CBD in the Vaping world

Welcome everyone to the first ever UKCBDStore blog! This is extremely exciting for me because since CBD came out, I’ve been all over it like a fat kid on cake and since I’ve been given the task of educating you all on the CBD facts, it’s my duty to share everything I know with you but there’s a catch…

Saying that I’m a little nervous about writing this blog is an understatement. You see, CBD or Cannabidiols have been around for a while and they have been well received by everyone, especially the medical community, so what do I, a professional in the vaping industry have to be nervous about? Let me clear this up for you with the overview first. It’s a long but very interesting one, lab coat on, let’s go!

What is a cannabinoid? Well, there are two types really, Phytocannabinoids and Endocannabinoids. The Phyto variety (which is Greek for plant) is produced inside the plant itself, hence the name. The Endo stuff (endo being derived from the Greek word within), is produced inside our bodies. Endocannabinoids are really awesome, they help regulate your body so if you’re boiling hot, they help cool you down and if you have tachycardia (tachy being another Greek word for Quick) it will help you relax and regulate your heart rate.

So overall, they help a lot, being that Homeostasis (the maintenance of the internal environment within the body) is so important. An easy way to look at it is if you imagine your body as an engine. The brain makes sure all the gears work, the oil is nice and clean and most importantly, it does a series of checks to make sure everything is a-ok. All of that is directly influenced by our Endocannabinoid system. The Endo system is comprised of a bunch of cannabinoid receptors, little sensors in the immune and nervous system, which are basically molecules of protein found on cells.

These sensors receive chemical signals which in turn create some form of Tissue response. This only happens when the signal and receiver are able to bond and for this to happen they must match, 100%. Those receptors can be bound with the cannabinoids already present in our body thanks to the Endo system or externals influences such as CBD and THC. Yeah, Science!

With the lab coat back on the hanger, let’s talk about the benefits, shall we?

The facts are that Cannabidiols are directly derived from the Cannabis plant and have been perfectly legal in the UK since October of 2016. They are recognised by the MHRA (Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) as a medicine and will not get you high so if that’s your deal, CBD won’t help you there. Another fact is that CBD is one of over 100 Cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant and it’s overshadowed by only one, THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol, the stuff that does get you high.

Cannabis extracts have been found to have tremendous benefits as medicines and are used to treat a tonne of conditions including Depression, Arthritis, Chronic pain, Multiple sclerosis, PTSD, Type 1 Diabetes, Acne and the list goes on and on. CBD is even present in some clinical trials, where scientists are studying its effects on Alzheimer’s, Obesity, Epilepsy and even Cancer, looking for a breakthrough to kick cancers ass! That’s amazing, which leads us to think or wonder that there must be an equal trade. Certainly, If CBD can be so helpful, are there must negative; I mean, too much of a good thing and all that…

Well, long-term data is a little hard to come by since the studies are quite recent. That being said, there have been no significant side effects on mood, vital organs or central nervous systems of users, pretty similar to the whole e-cig situation. CBD has been well tolerated by a large range of adults in a wide range of doses although, people have reported feeling tired and that some changes in appetite have occurred, so that’s something…

Based on the research though, it looks as though this stuff does a lot of good! If so, why am I so reluctant to even write about it? One thing that bothers me is the number of harassment, vapers worldwide get daily, being that people think e-cigs are deadly or that they are actually worse than cigarettes (true story)! The reason why I am so reluctant to even mention it is due to my personal experience with people. I remember being in a vape store and seeing people come in and asking for cannabis oil, basically chasing a buzz.

This word to mouth routine is actually putting a bad name on vapers in general, making us look like drug users on the pursuit of another hit and I get it, the devices we use are unconventional but the last thing I want is people who are genuinely trying to kick a stupid habit like smoking, automatically getting a target painted on their backs because of things like these. It’s the same thing with CBD, Yes it’s extracted from cannabis-ish, yes it’s a cannabinoid but it does help people with sleep disorders, and all the other issues I mentioned above. There’s also a huge debate whether Marijuana should be legal and I’m all for it since research like this shows that it is actually beneficial, even going one step further and being used to treat illness.

The point I’m trying to make is that people tend to look at the bad first and in most cases, the bad overshadows the good and it’s the same thing with this. Whether you’re with it or against it, I don’t judge but CBD is super promising, showing results which are off the charts and let me say one more thing, if my life was compromised in any way due to illness and I had the option of something which would make me feel better and genuinely help, I’m taking it and you can take that to the bank!

There are thousands of cases all across the world such as the case of Alfie Dingley, a 6-year-old Epileptic boy from the UK, who suffers around 3,000 seizures a year! The use of CBD and Cannabis oil has eased Alfie’s day to day life, lessening the seizures and giving him a better and more comfortable life. If that doesn’t warm your heart, I want it to be known that thanks to 6-year-old alive Alfie and his caring mother Hannah Deacon, a petition for medical marijuana is being revised by the British government to legalise and make medical cannabis available to patients all across the UK which means thousands of lives will be made much, much better. But, those are the facts, boys and girls, let me know what you think in the comments but that’s all for now.

As always, I truly hope you enjoyed reading my scribblings and I’ll leave you with the same wise words I do every time, be safe, kick ass and keep vaping! On behalf of UKCBDStore, it’s Yianno signing out and I’ll see you again soon!
